The Eastern Catholic Churches are Churches in communion with the Church of Rome and with one another. They are of apostolic origin and manifest the same oneness characteristic of the Apostolic Church by virtue of their common bond with the Successor of Peter.
In light of Pope John Paul II's Apostolic Letter "Orientale Lumen", Roman Catholics are encouraged to visit and pray with their Eastern Catholic brothers and sisters.
