Marriage Encounter and Family Movement of California

Who are we?
The Marriage Encounter and Family Movement of California (MEFM), previously known as the Marriage Encounter in the Filipino Perspective (MEFP), is a spiritual movement dedicated to promote, support and strengthen the Sacrament of Marriage.  With Jesus as our focus, MEFM is dedicated to helping couples to live out God’s plan for their lives with the one-person God created just for them.
What we do
MEFM conducts weekend retreats with the objective of assisting couples to improve their communication with each other and with God, so that they may grow closer to each other, and bring God to the center of their relationship.  Through ongoing meetings and community support, couples have the opportunity to reinforce what they learned over the weekend, as they continue to examine their lives together through dialogue and the sharing of feelings.
Overview of the Weekend
The objective of the weekend is to deepen the couple’s intimacy with one another and God.  It is a discovery weekend wherein through learned communication techniques, spouses examine their relationship in a new and positive way as they come to know and re-discover one another once again.
Process of the Weekend
The three-day weekend starts on a Friday evening and concludes on Sunday evening.  Over the course of the weekend, various topics are presented to provide the foundation and tools needed to accomplish the objective of the weekend.  A team of trained married couples present on each topic sharing from their lived experience.  They are assisted by a team of four deacons of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and their spouses, who not only share from their experience, but also provide scriptural, and Church teachings as the foundation for what is being presented.
Love Offering for the Weekend
$300 per couple for hotel accommodation, meals and handouts.  No couple will be denied the opportunity of a marriage encounter weekend due to financial constraints.
