 Continuing Learning and Formation

I am a certified catechist in my parish and would like information about opportunities for ongoing learning and formation.

The Religious Education Congress, held at Anaheim, CA every year is the premiere event of its kind in the United States. Internationally acclaimed speakers on a broad variety of topics and themes related to church and ministry. This is a wonderful event in which to learn more about your faith and to grow in knowledge of the Church and our many ministries. Up to date information - including the dates of the next congress - is available on the Congress website.
Regional Congresses take place annually throughout the five pastoral regions of the Archdiocese. These events provide an opportunity to participate in workshops, deepen your knowledge of the faith, and develop skills for working in your particular area of ministry. For dates and other information visit the Regional Congress page.
Distance Learning Opportunities are available through a partnership with the Institute for Pastoral Initiatives at the University of Dayton. Participants can study as their own personal schedule permits, using the online courses of study provided by the Virtual Learning Community for Faith Formation at Dayton University. If you are struggling to find the time in your calendar to participate in some adult learning opportunities, read more detailed information and discover if this is a suitable opportunity for you on our E-Learning page.
Special events particular to a focused area of catechetical ministry are offered throughout the year by consultants at the Office of Religious Education. These events are included in the Archdiocesan Calendar. To learn more, contact the Regional Coordinators, or the consultants responsible for the area of catechetical ministry in which you have an interest directly. Contact information can be found on the ORE Contact Page.
The Annual Silent Directed Retreat for Adults in Ministry is an experience of prayer, rest and relaxation in an environment of quiet and reflection. The opportunity is usually scheduled toward the end of June each year and numbers of participants are limited. More information can be found here.
