 More about the National Certificate Program

Participants

This program has been designed for adults involved professionally or as volunteers with younger (10-14) or older (14-19) adolescents in a parish or school setting. The program is geared toward: Coordinators of Youth Ministry, Coordinators of Confirmation, Directors of Religious Education, Youth Ministry Volunteer Leaders, Junior High Leaders, High School Campus Ministers and Teachers, and Clergy.

Certification

A Certificate in Youth Ministry Studies is awarded by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles to students who:

  • complete all eight courses
  • complete the Certificate Assignments for each course
  • submit their portfolio of completed assignments by the deadline following completion of their final course (December 15 for summer courses, September 15 for academic year courses)

Courses may also be taken individually for ongoing professional development or personal enrichment.

Schedule  & Meals

The following courses will be offered in Summer 2019:

  • June 8-9  (Sat-Sun): Prayer & Worship
  • June 10-11  (Mon-Tues): Justice & Service
  • July 13-14  (Sat-Sun): Evangelization & Catechesis
  • July 15-16  (Mon-Tues): Pastoral Care


Registration deadline: May 17 for June courses; June 14 for July courses

Hours for each day of class are 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.  Participants should make arrangements to be present for the entire time.

Morning hospitality will be available beginning at 8:30 am.  Participants are asked to bring their own lunch or visit restaurants around the site.  Afternoon snacks will be provided.

Fees

Individual Rate: $150 per course (includes books, materials, and morning hospitality).

Team Rate: $350 per course for up to four participants from the same parish/school (includes one set of books, materials for each team member, and morning hospitality).

Discount: At the time of your registration, pay in full for all four courses to receive a $50 discount off the total amount due.  Discounted total would be $550/individual or $1350/team.

Refund policy: All refunds will be reduced by any pay-in-full discount that was received.  Refund deadlines for Summer 2019 classes are as follows:

Full refund available if requested prior to registration deadline.
50% refund if requested between May 17-24 (for June courses) or June 14-28 (for July courses)
No refunds available after May 24 (for June courses) or June 28 (for July courses)

Payments cannot be transferred to courses in future years.
